Alan Rogers Review of Camping du Bois Vert
Bois Vert is a former municipal site, now operated by a campsite group although so far it has changed little. There are 88 pitches of which 69 are for touring, all with electricity (16A) and 30 also with water and drainage. There are 19 mobile homes to rent. Pitches are separated by hedges and there are mature trees providing some shade. The site is on the River Thouet and although there is a secure fence, there is a steep drop to the river bank. Pleasant walkways along both sides and a footbridge close by enable you to walk into the old walled town.
The medieval city of Parthenay is a place of art and history. It is the capital of the Gatine region, an agricultural area renowned for its sheep, farming, dairy products, apple orchards and cattle breeding. This is an ideal destination close to the Marais Poitevan and Venise Verte. In medieval times the city was also one of the important stops on the pilgrims’ route to Santiago de Compostela.
Facilities at Camping du Bois Vert
Two toilet blocks, one with unisex toilets, showers and washbasins in cubicles. Accessible facilities, including new mobile homes. Bar with snack bar and takeaway (1/5-30/9). Small shop. Bread can be ordered. Breakfast available at the bar. Motorhome services. Heated swimming pool. TV. Badminton. Boules. Bicycle hire. Small play area. Security barrier. WiFi (charged). Tickets available for Futuroscope and Puy du Fou.
Directions to Camping du Bois Vert
Parthenay is 50 km. west of Poitiers (and the A10) via the N149 to Bressuire and Nantes. Site is southwest of the town at Le Tallud on the D949 La Roche-sur-Yon road. Take ring road and site is on right as you join D949.
