A small, very unusual campsite of just 65 pitches, Domaine Saint-Martin is set several hundred metres up in the Pyrenees, in the heart of the walking and climbing districts. Up quite a slope, the effort is worthwhile as you find a place on a terraced pitch with rock formations on one side and forests on the other (the owner will help if required). Then go down to the reception area to enjoy the stunning views of the peaks rising up into the sky – they are all around you as you lie beside the pool or enjoy a drink on the terrace.

Aimed at walkers and nature lovers, there is wildlife in abundance and animal reserves just a short distance away. The restaurant is open between June and September and offers a breakfast service and half-board arrangement. It serves good quality regional dishes made with fresh ingredients.

Facilities at Camping Domaine Saint Martin

One toilet block in the main building can be heated whilst the other is up amongst the pitches. Both are of traditional design and fully equipped. Shop. Bar. Snack bar with terrace. Restaurant. Swimming pool. Play area. A wide choice of rental accommodation is available.

Directions to Camping Domaine Saint Martin

Use the N116 Perpignan-Puigcerda road. After Prades look for Villefranche-de-Conflent and take the D116 left turn for Vernet-le-Bains (5 km) and continue past it for a further 2 km. up the mountain to Casteil. Site is signed.
