This site is on the edge of Santa Elena in a natural park with shade from mature pine trees. This is a good place to stay en route from Madrid to the Costa del Sol or to explore the surrounding countryside.

The pitches are fully serviced, including a satellite TV/Internet link. All rubbish must be taken to large bins outside the site gates (a long walk from the other end of the site). The site is run in a very friendly manner where nothing is too much trouble. Reception has a monitor link with tourist information and access to the region’s sites of interest.

There is a good bar with TV and a classy restaurant. A large swimming pool and paddling pool surrounded by grass overlook the beautiful mountains. Just to the north there are some stunning views of the narrow mountain gorge of Despeñaperros, definitely worth a visit.

Facilities at Camping Despeñaperros

Two traditional, central sanitary blocks have squat-style WCs and well-equipped showers. Accessible facilities. One washing machine (launderette in town). Shop. Excellent bar (all year) and charming restaurant (May-Oct). Swimming pools (high season). Tennis. Caravan storage. Night security. Communal barbecue area. WiFi over part of the site.

Directions to Camping Despeñaperros

Travelling south on A4/E5 take exit 259 (Santa Elena). Drive through town and site is on right up steep slope (alternative entrance for tall vehicles – ask reception).
