Alan Rogers Review
Les Salorges is a friendly family site of just 87 pitches and open for a long season. It is located at Cordemais, a small port on the Loire midway between Nantes and Saint Nazaire. Pitches here are large and grassy, and most have electrical connections. Campers have access to the adjacent municipal swimming pool. This is a good base to explore a lesser known part of the Loire Atlantique. There are many walking and cycle routes, and the site managers will be pleased to recommend routes. Cordemais is an important riding centre, and one of the homes of the French national stud.
The town is overlooked by a large EDF power station, but despite the proximity of this heavy industry, there is a great deal of fauna and flora to discover. The city of Saint Nazaire lies to the west and is one of France’s major ports, retaining an important shipbuilding activity. It was a famous base for U-boats in the last war, and one of the pens has been converted to a fascinating museum.
