Camping de Montréal
France, Limousin, Haute-Vienne, Saint Germain-les-Belles
Alan Rogers Review
Camping de Montreal is an all-year campsite, located just a few minutes from J42 on the A20. You can be sure of a warm welcome from Hans and Leonie, the Dutch owners of Camping de Montréal, in the heart of the Limousin countryside. The site provides 60 terraced pitches; 13 are occupied by chalets, mobile homes or bungalows, while 47 pitches are reserved for touring units. The pitches are mainly level, and most have excellent views over the eight-hectare leisure lake. All have electricity (10A), some have shade, and tall cypress hedges separate many. There are a few pitches near the sanitary block which have hardstandings and are used in the winter or after heavy rain. The single toilet block has recently been refurbished to a high standard. The small restaurant, open much of the year, is popular with campers and users of the lake.
Limoges, on the banks of the River Vienne, is about 29 km. northeast of the campsite. It has a historical quarter and a multitude of museums. Two slightly unusual venues are the paper mill, which still uses traditional methods and offers hands-on tours and the House of Enamel where hands-on workshops enable you to produce your own enamel plaques. The Martyr village of Oradour-sur-Glane has been preserved since the 9th June 1944, when it was devastated by the occupying enemy forces - a very memorable museum site.
One refurbished toilet block on the lower level has preset showers, baby changing and good facilities for disabled visitors. A second small sanitary block on the upper level provides WCs, showers and washing up sinks. Laundry. Bar/restaurant with takeaway. Swimming pool. Play area. Small library. Lake for fishing and swimming. WiFi (charged).
From A20 exit at junction 42 head northeast towards St Germain-les-Belles. In the village follow signs for the campsite. Suggest you don’t follow your SatNav which may not show the new access road.Link to campsite location map on google
