Alan Rogers Review of Camping de l’Etang
Camping de L’Étang is a 10 minutes' walk from Le Lindois and close to the borders of Haute-Vienne and Dordogne. The site is on the edge of a five-acre lake, surrounded by tree-filled grounds that stretch out to almost 25 acres – that means plenty of space to relax in the shade of the century-old forest, as well as access to the lake’s waters for days of fishing. The lake also has a small sandy beach area for paddling and sunbathing time. A pretty walk takes you along the lakeside and through the woods a little way. Once you have completed that, there are rewards in store at the restaurant, which has a lakeside terrace where you can relax with a drink or order meals made from fresh local produce and cooked on the grill. The restaurant also hosts live music and theme evenings. Whilst you are here you could also try outdoor activities like kayaking, tree-climbing and hikes in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park. The site has 34 touring pitches and 4 lodges available to hire.
Being on the edge of the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park means that all sorts of trails await for walkers and bike riders, and there are lots of other excellent ways to spend time in the open air, too. These might include a day of kayaking from Montbron, getting up into the treetops at Aventure Parc Lacs de Haute Charente or a round of Golf at International de la Prèze. Alternatively, take a stroll around Château de la Rochefoucauld, a stunning building that’s surely one of the best examples of the classic French castle style. For an even wider view of the area’s history, follow up with trips to Cassinomagus Archaeological Park and Memorial de la Resistance. Moreover, a trip to Angoulême should be on the cards. The cathedral, ramparts and museum should keep history lovers happy for a while, and the Musée de la Bande Dessinée. |

Directions to Camping de l’Etang
From the N10/E603 north of Angoulême take the exit onto the N141/E603 and continue on this until the junction with the D6. Next turn left onto D13 and follow this to the junction with the D397 and bear right to join the B397. At the junction with the D112 Take a sharp left turn to join it. The site is on the right off this road 1km before you get to Le Lindois
