Alan Rogers Review
Camping de la Vée is a pleasant municipal site in the town of Bagnoles de l’Orne, and is open for a long season (March to November). The 246 pitches (228 for touring) are large and grassy and are grouped around the two well maintained toilet blocks. All have 10A electricity. Some 51 hardstandings are available for motorhome users. On-site amenities include a snack bar with special meal offers in peak season, a play area and free WiFi. A number of fully equipped mobile homes are available to rent. Bagnoles is an important thermal spa centre and can be reached on the shuttle bus.
The town’s Belle Epoque quarter is deservedly famous, lined with fine villas with extravagant polychrome façades, influenced by the Art Deco style. Bagnoles is surrounded by the vast Andaines forest, which forms a part of the Parc Naturel Régional de Normandie Maine. This is great walking country and the site managers will be pleased to recommend routes. A little further away, Alençon to the east is the region’s capital and has a great deal of interest including the Château des Ducs.
