This quiet riverside site is on the outskirts of the old town of Haro, the commercial centre for the renowned Rioja wines. It is a family run site with pleasant pools (open 15/6-15/9). Staff in the modern reception are helpful and you may well get a cheery welcome from Carlos, the owner’s son, who speaks excellent English. All 236 pitches are on level ground and of reasonable size, including some open pitches. Around 50% are occupied on a seasonal and weekend basis. Most of the touring pitches have some shade, a few have a great deal. Electricity connections (6A, Europlug) are provided throughout the site.
Camping de Haro has recently been upgraded to provide an ecological sanitary block, a multisports facility and improved access roads. The Tirón river running alongside the site can provide fishing (permit required), and there is secure fencing. Reception provides information about the town which is ten minutes walk, and on tastings at the ’Bodegas’ close by. The famous Paternina is a few minutes drive away. Haro is an ideal stopping point for those taking the scenic route to or from Santander and Bilbao, as well as for those exploring the wines, history and countryside of the La Rioja region.
