Alan Rogers Review of Camping De Bouwte
Camping De Bouwte is a small site located in Midwolda, half an hour from Oldambtmeer. On-site, you will find 90 pitches, 80 of which are for touring, which are spacious and separated by hedges and trees to give some privacy to your pitch. The pitches are surrounded by the main attraction, which is the swimming lake. During high season you will find many activities available for children here, such as the inflatable assault course, slides and a zip line that crosses the lake. Once the kids have had enough swimming, you will find a children's playground, football pitch and volleyball pitch to enjoy. Once you work up an appetite, the campsite has a restaurant which offers a wide choice of meals, sandwiches, ice cream, coffee and cake. There are also plenty of quiet areas around the site to relax and enjoy the surrounding views.
The Netherlands are well known for cycling holidays, and Camping De Bouwte is an ideal starting point to explore the surrounding area of Groningen.
Cycling maps are handed out at reception. There is a caravan dealership about 5 miles westwards down the motorway that will provide emergency needs. Supermarkets were found in nearby Scheemda. The site is 10-12 miles from the German border, making it an ideal base to visit both countries.
Staff in reception are very helpful and speak good english.
