On the edge of a forest and just 1.8 kilometres from a sandy beach, la Loubine is a busy campsite close to Les Sables d’Olonne. Under new ownership from 2011, the site has 80 grass touring pitches which are mostly shaded, all with electricity and with water points nearby. Mobile homes and chalets, many to rent, and tour operator tents occupy the remaining 300 pitches. The camping areas have many mature trees and hedges, some quite high, providing plenty of shade. A shuttle bus to the beach operates in high season.

The area has a network of cycle tracks and there are occasional buses to Les Sables and Saint Gilles from close by. Olonne-sur-Mer has shops, bars, restaurants and a hypermarket, whilst ten minutes away is fashionable Les Sables with its fine sandy beach and a wider range of options for dining and shopping. An information cabin has details of the many tourist attractions in the area, which include châteaux with ‘son et lumière’, zoos and theme parks. Along the coast to the north are the vineyards of Les Fiefs Vendéens. Further afield are Le Puy du Fou, a remarkable historical theme park and the delightful Marais Poitevin.

Directions to Camping Capfun La Loubine

Olonne-sur-Mer is 5 km. north of Les Sables d’Olonne. Site is off D80 coast road between Olonne-sur-Mer and Brem-sur-Mer, clearly signed at small roundabout. From La Roche-sur-Yon via A87/D160, turn west on D80 to Olonne-sur-Mer, then on to site, signed to left in 4 km.
