Pleasantly situated and over 600 metres high in the Harz, Campingplatz Bärenbache is a quiet, attractive, well-run family site having direct access to the forests that surround it. This terraced site on a south-facing slope reaps the maximum benefit from the sun throughout the year and offers views of the surrounding hills in an area known for its fresh air. Of the 150 pitches, 90 are reserved for touring units all having 10A electrical connections. The level pitches are separated by hedges and are of various sizes, some suitable for one, others for several units. At the lower end of the site is a large, heated, outdoor swimming pool complex adjoined by a bar/restaurant.

The Harz is a region steeped in geological, mythical, industrial and cultural history and the reception has a good selection of tourist information. In addition, the site owners are only too happy to give tourist advice. Roses, rambling, narrow-gauge railways, witches, mines, mineral collections and medieval towns such as Goslar, all have their place in this fascinating region.

Facilities

As can be expected in a site that also has a winter season, all facilities are housed internally in the modern, well maintained and heated toilet block. Showers are free. Baby room. Washing machines, dryers and iron, drying room. Small kitchen with cooking rings. Bread to order. Bar/restaurant (all year) beside the pool. Large outdoor heated pool with two separate pools for children. Small playground. Bicycle hire.

Location

The village of Hohegeiss is 10 km. southeast of Braunlage on the B4 road. Leaving Hohegeiss towards Zorge, site is signed. Turn left before leaving village, 250 m. from the main road.
