Alpes Dauphiné is situated at an altitude of 800 m. on a south-facing slope in the Hautes-Alpes, close to the interesting regional centre of Gap. The site is a popular overnight stop for motorcyclists travelling the French Alps. This is a pretty site extending over six acres, attractively covered by alpine flowers and trees, and with some fine views over the surrounding mountains. The 150 pitches (100 sq.m) are all well shaded and all have electricity connections. The site restaurant, close to the entrance, specialises in traditional cuisine and local specialities. These can also be enjoyed on the restaurant’s flower bedecked terrace. Takeaway food (including pizzas) is also prepared in the restaurant’s kitchen.

Check-in is very quick and easy and the site was well organised. Pitches are clearly marked and spacious, and you are able to select the pitch that fits your requirements. There are four modern clean sanitary blocks with baby change and one laundry room with washers and dryers.

Gap is an attractive town with a fascinating history and has a very wide choice of shops and restaurants, as well as a farmers’ market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. A large selection of accommodation is available to rent including Gites, Chalets, Mobile Homes and ‘La Bungalow’. This is a lovely modern site in a great location for exploring the local region or to use as an overnight stop.

Location

Drive to Gap from Grenoble (to the north) using the N85 (Route de Napoleon) or from Aix-en-Provence in the south using the A51 and N85. Site is just off the N85 2 km. north of Gap.
