Alan Rogers Review of Applewood Countryside Park
Whether you're looking to explore Norfolk’s many historic sights and lively market towns, set out for an adventure to take in the beautiful countryside and stunning coastline or want to relax, Applewood Countryside Park is your perfect choice of campsite.
A tranquil, family-friendly caravan park and campsite set within 13 acres of grassy parkland, it caters for all. Spacious pitches with electric hook-ups are separated by mature laurel hedges allowing plenty of privacy. The park then has a large central area with unmarked pitches for those who do not need electricity. There is a further area with pitches which can be booked exclusively and a large field too, perfect for rallies and larger groups. Six cosy glamping pods and five luxury en-suite Shepherd’s Cabins are available for hire.
Applewood Countryside Park is adjacent to Norfolk’s award-winning family attraction, Banham Zoo. Campsite guests receive discounted entry to discover 2,000 animals from around the world, such as tigers, penguins and giraffes, and enjoy lots of fun activities including daily animal feeding talks, a free Safari Roadtrain, ‘Amazing Animals!’ presentations and one of the most exciting ‘Birds of Prey’ displays in the UK!
Also just a short walk away is The Appleyard which provides all the amenities you may need during your stay, including a licensed grocery shop, family run butchers, fast food takeaway restaurant and local pub, the “Banham Barrel”. Not far away, the ancient market towns of Diss (Friday market) and Thetford are well worth a visit. Many of the scenes from the classic comedy, Dad’s Army, were filmed around Thetford, which is home to the Dad’s Army museum.
