Alan Rogers Review
Abbey Wood Caravan and Motorhome Club site feels positively rural when you reach this gently sloping verdant site. Its mature tree screening and spacious grounds make this a 'green oasis'. It is hard to believe that this park is in London and the wardens have made every effort to create an attractive environment. There are 159 level pitches, all with 16A electricity and TV aerial connections; of these, 95 are hardstanding. A tent area provides 35 pitches. Many benefit from the shade of mature trees. A secure fence around the perimeter is linked to closed-circuit TV cameras and just outside is a late arrivals area with electricity and toilets, also protected by cameras. 5 camping pods are available to rent. This site's unique selling point is its location - there are shops and good railway connections, providing frequent services to central London in just 35 minutes, within walking distance of the site. Alternatively, nearby Greenwich offers its own blend of fascinating attractions, including the famous observatory and National Maritime Museum.
River cruises operate from nearby Abbey Wood Club Campsite between Greenwich, Tower Bridge, Westminster, Kew, Richmond and Hampton Court. Open all year, the site is very popular with European visitors during the summer months. There are good reasons to visit Abbey Wood throughout the year though. The Christmas Lights, shopping at the January Sales, the London Marathon, Excel Centre and the Chelsea Flower show can all be enjoyed from this scenic, yet well placed, site. A train service runs every 15 minutes from Abbey Wood station (5 minutes’ walk).
