This relatively recently constructed touring campsite is on the side of Lake Biel and the river Thielle, close to the old town of Le Landeron. The site is divided into two sections: on the lake side of the road are residential seasonal caravans, and on the other is the modern campsite for tourists. The 160 touring pitches are all on level grass, numbered but not separated; a few have shade, all have 13A electricity and many conveniently placed water points.
This excellent, busy TCS campsite is on the edge of Morges, a wine growing centre with a 13th-century castle on Lake Geneva about 8 km. west of Lausanne. Flowers, shrubs and trees adorn the site and the neat, tidy lawns make a most pleasant environment. There are 155 grass pitches for touring units, all with 6/10A electricity and laid out in a regular pattern from wide hard access roads on which cars stand. There are eight larger pitches for motorhomes with electricity, water and drainage. The friendly manager and receptionist speak good English, and will advise on local attractions.
Paradis Plage is situated on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, with access to the lake. The 160 pitches available to touring units are marked out on flat grass under a covering of tall, mature trees. All have 15A electricity and some have gravel hardstandings. There are separate areas of grass where pitches are not marked, including a small overflow section for individuals or groups. The 200 static pitches are occupied mainly at weekends and high season and are neatly set out together in rows. A very busy motorway runs over the site and is extremely noisy. Access to the site is rather narrow but adequate.
Owned by the Touring Club Suisse, Camping Le Signal is located north of Lausanne, with good access to Lake Geneva and the sandy beaches of Lake Neuchâtel. There are 110 touring pitches here, all with 6A electricity. They are grassy and shaded by mature pines – some slope and levelling blocks would be useful. Three fully equipped tents are available to rent. On-site amenities include a superb swimming pool, 18-hole minigolf (both next door but free to campers), small shop, bar and children’s playground. A children’s club is organised in July and August. Other entertainment includes sausage evenings, occasional dances and walking excursions in the area.
This lovely site is about 750 metres off the main road behind high pine trees, in a delightful setting surrounded by the fields of the local dairy farms. It addition to being an excellent campsite built in 2000 to high standards, it is also part of a network of training establishments for young adults with learning difficulties. Visitors are welcome to participate in the numerous horse training and recreational activities that are provided for staff and visitors alike. The 134 level pitches (90 for touring) are of a good size with pleasant views across the farmland and 60 have water, drainage and electricity.
A pleasant little site in the forested mountains above Montreux and Vevey on Lac Leman (Lake Geneva). Le Bivouac has its own small swimming pool and children’s pool. Most of the places here are taken by seasonal caravans (130) interspersed with about 18 pitches for touring units and 12 for small tents. Electrical connections (10A) are available and there are five water points. Due to access difficulties, the site is not open to tourers in winter. The active can take mountain walks in the area or set off to explore Montreux and the lake. Others will enjoy the peace and quiet of this green and rustic hideaway.
Situated at the foot of Mount Chasseral, ten minutes drive from its summit, and the shores of the lakes of Neuchâtel and Bielersee, this is primarily a large residential site. However, it has the benefit of a separate touring area providing some 50 pitches right behind reception and the restaurant. All with 10A electricity, these are flat and of a good size. In a high rural valley close to the village of Lignières, the site has much to offer those looking for a short or long stay. It is owned and managed by Philippe and Sylvie Geiser who live on site. The countryside around Lignières is ideal for horse riding, walking and cycling.
Situated right beside Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland, Camping La Nouvelle Plage is the perfect site for active holidaymakers as it offers families a chance to enjoy all kinds of water-based activities. The campground is on an attractive sandy beach with direct access to the lake. You'll find plenty of water sports, including water skiing, paddle boarding and pedalos. Beach volleyball and ping pong are also available for active families.
The ancient city of Lausanne spills down the hillside towards Lake Geneva until it meets the peaceful park in which this site is situated. Owned by the city, the managers have enhanced its neat and tidy appearance by planting many flowers and shrubs. Hard access roads separate the site into sections for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with 10A electrical connections in all parts, except the tent areas. Of the 350 pitches, about 96 are for touring units, 100 are for tents and the remainder for seasonal caravans. A few large pitches near the lake are suitable for American style motorhomes.
At first sight, Les Grangettes appears to be filled with caravan holiday homes and, indeed, 245 of the 315 pitches have these. However, to one side there is a separate section of 70 places for touring units. These are good sized level pitches, separated by saplings, and back-to-back in regular rows. They sit either side of rolled stone roads backed by trees, leading down to the lake. All have 13A electricity connections. Musical entertainment is provided in the restaurant in high season but this is a quiet site in a scenic location with views across Lake Geneva.
This is a large site by Swiss standards, located in a quiet, open situation directly on Lake Murten with its own marina and excellent access to the water. The site is well cared for, with 300 out of the 700 pitches available for touring units. These are of reasonable size (80 sq.m) with shade in parts from tall trees and 13A electricity on most. At the centre of the site is a large building which houses a general shop, butcher, baker and the main sanitary facilities. With the site’s location directly on the shores of the lake, there are many leisure opportunities.
The road from Lake Neuchâtel to Chaux-de-Fonds, which stands just inside the Swiss border with France in the northwest of Switzerland, has been greatly improved with parts to motorway standard. Camping Bois du Couvent is situated at the southern end of the town on a hilltop with splendid views (1,060 m). Most of the pitches are taken by static caravans but the 40 places for touring units, with 10A electricity connections, although not marked, are obvious. There is an open lawn for tents. The site has a pleasant appearance and tarmac and gravel roads link the terraces, some of which have shade from tall trees.
Ideal for visiting Geneva, Pointe à la Bise is directly on the lake and has superb views of it and the surrounding mountains, which may well tempt you to stay longer. The 160 pitches for touring units, all with 4/10A electricity are not marked so, although electricity boxes roughly determine where each unit goes, you do not have an exactly defined place, which might lead to crowding in high season. Tall trees provide some shade. Being away from the main road, this is a quiet site with a relaxed atmosphere. Improvements in recent years have lifted this from a reasonable site to a good one where you should receive a warm welcome.
This lovely site is some 6 km. off the main road along a steep wooded valley, through which flows the Doub on its brief excursion through Switzerland from France. If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity then this is a distinct possibility for a short or long stay. A very small friendly site (not suitable for very large units), owned and managed by Christine Lodens, there are just 15 touring pitches. It is ideal for walking, fishing or for the more active, the possibility of kayaking along the Doub. Medieval Saint Ursanne, said to be the most beautiful village in the canton, is some 7 km. In the village you will find 16th-century town gates and bridge and a 12th-century church surrounded by ancient houses. Not too far is Delemont, the Jura’s capital. A local artist, Michel Marchand, runs introductory lessons in watercolour painting.

Although this region is best known for the dramatic and imposing Lake Geneva, there are plenty of equally beautiful smaller valleys, rivers and lakes to choose from. Backed by mountains, the towns and villages nestling around the lakes make this a picture perfect destination.
