Lee Valley

With the staycation being king this year and people wanting to change their vista, even if it’s just for a short while, think outside the norm and have a peek at the Lee Valley.

Discover a single holiday destination offering a variety of accommodation options for unforgettable getaways in the scenic Lee Valley.

Lee Valley Regional Park stretches for 26 miles from Hertfordshire all the way down to the River Thames at East India Dock Basin. The valley teams with activity, whether it’s of the sporting thrill-seeking kind or the quiet reflective wildlife watching in the amazing nature reserves and open spaces. This diversity is what makes a short break in this area truly extraordinary.

So take a bold step, stop looking for coastal retreats and explore the Lee Valley. There are four campsites, all offering something a little different, great road and public transport links.

Lee Valley Campsite, Sewardstone
This attractive site provides an excellent base from which to visit London, having both easy access to the M25 and excellent public transport links into the centre of London. Close to Epping Forest in the heart of the Lee Valley, this site is on a hillside overlooking the King George reservoir in an enjoyable and relaxed setting. Like its sister sites, it is understandably very popular with overseas tourers. With capacity for 160 units, the site is mostly level, with several bush sheltered avenues and plenty of trees throughout providing shade. There are 65 pitches with hardstanding and 80 with 10A electricity. American motorhomes are welcome.
Lee Valley - Almost Wild Campsite
This back to basics campsite is found on the Essex and Hertfordshire border. If you're looking for an authentic 'wild camping' experience, but don't have the time to travel to the countryside, this tent only campsite could be the site for you. The mature woodland location features fire pits, composting toilets and solar powered lighting. A couple of local pubs are a short walk away, alternatively you can pre-order a delivery of charcoal, logs and a grill and cater for yourself on your secluded woodland pitch. 12 Riverside pitches are larger and can cater for groups of up to six campers. Due to the nearby rivers, the campsite is bounded by water on 3 sides, children under the age of 12 are not permitted at this site. 2 well behaved dogs are permitted per pitch.
Lee Valley Caravan Park, Dobbs Weir
This large (27-acre) camping park is ideally situated in the Lee Valley for fishing, walking and cycling activities. It is divided into two sections: one for private static caravans with a large fenced caravan storage area, the other for touring. The 34 level touring pitches are numbered but not separated; all have 10A electricity, and 22 are hardstanding. There is an area for tents with a field adjacent to the River Lee for tents requiring electricity.
Lee Valley Camping and Caravan Park, Edmonton
Certainly one of the only sites in this guide with a multiplex cinema just outside the gate, you are greeted here by a very attractive entrance with flower displays. The site offers 160 spacious level pitches, 44 with hardstanding and 100 with 10A electricity hook-ups. The pitches are well laid out around a large field and there is a tent area just behind two grassy mounds. The grass and gardens are well trimmed and kept very tidy. The site also offers hook-up points for tents. The adjacent sports complex has been rebuilt and was used for the 2012 Olympics.
