In a quiet location arranged around two lakes and set amidst beautiful alpine scenery, this site, founded in 1930, is renowned as one of Austria’s top sites. Over the last few years, many improvements have been carried out, and pride of place goes to the innovative, award-winning, multifunctional building at the entrance to the site. This contains all the sanitary facilities expected of a top site, including a special section for children, private bathrooms to rent, and a dog bath.

Roads are tarmac and gravel, watered twice a day to keep the dust down. Many pitches are separated by flower troughs, adding to the informal ambience. It is on sloping ground, but most of the pitches are on level terraces. Some pitches are individual and divided by hedges and most have 8/10A electricity, cable TV connections, water and drainage. Space is usually available. There is a toboggan run from the site in winter. Good walks and a wealth of excursions by car are available nearby. There is some daytime road noise.
Alpencamp Marienberg
Alpencamp Marienberg is located in the summer and winter holiday paradise of the Tiroler Zug-spitzarena near the town of Biberwier (the name Biberwier derives from the beavers that lived in this area). Even today, real beavers cavort on the mountain streams of the village. The Marienberg is a perfect ski area for families and beginners. Cross-country skiers and winter hikers enjoy the extensive network of cross-country trails and the cleared hiking trails. In summer, turquoise mountain and bathing lakes, the longest summer toboggan run in Tyrol and the scooter track on the Marienberg attract with monster scooters and mountain carts. Nature lovers and ambitious athletes can set out on well-signposted hiking trails, mountain bike routes and scenic mountain trails. Whether you are looking for peace and relaxation or want to spend an active sports holiday, this is the place for you. The site has 75 hardstanding touring pitches each with electric hook-up point 16 amp.
Camping Riffler
This very friendly, 35 pitch site has easy access from the A12/E60 Arlberg-Innsbruck autobahn and being in a small town with numerous supermarkets, restaurants and bars makes it a good stopover point as well as a comfortable base from which to tour this interesting region, through which the Via Claudia Augusta, the Roman route linking Venice with Germany, once passed. The pitches (40-70 sq.m) are grassed, accessed by hard roads and all have 10A electricity. Established by the present owners in 1956, much care and attention has gone into a fairly small plot, but there are no on-site refreshments or activities.

Tirol

Perhaps the best-known area and the most easily accessible part of the country is the Tirol in the west. A charming region with picturesque valleys to explore, it offers a raft of outdoor activities year round and has some wonderful campsites to stay on.

Tirol is the ideal place to get immersed in Austrian culture. The people are fond of their traditions, and folk music evenings and various festivals take place all through the year. Late summer and early autumn see animals being driven back from the pastures to their winter homes; cattle are adorned with flowers and bells, and these events are often accompanied by food and entertainment. Locally produced schnaps is not to be missed on such occasions.

A centre for outdoor sports, Tirol is a spectacular destination for hiking, climbing and cycling during the summer months and a haven for snow sports during winter. Skiing and snowboarding aren't the only options - for those who prefer to stay off the pistes there is ice skating, tobogganing and snowtubing.
