The small hamlet of Amlach is south of the busy town of Lienz, in the eastern Tirol, and is surrounded by mountain peaks. Dolomiten-Camping is located around the old Amlacher Hof, a former manor house and hotel. Restoration of the villa is almost complete, but parts of the campsite still need attention. The camping areas are pleasant and peaceful, but other parts are somewhat unkempt. The surrounding area and views are very attractive. There are 84 level and numbered pitches, all with 16A electricity, and many with water and drainage to hand. A kitchen and toilets for those with reduced mobility are behind the villa in a modern building, with all other facilities in the basement of the villa.

A small swimming pool is unfenced, and at the time of our visit was in need of a pre-season scrub. The tennis facility is presently unusable, but there is riding adjacent. Although a little untidy, crazy golf and bowling are on site; a small go-kart track and pedal cars are available for hire, and youngsters may use a trampoline. Lienz is only 2 km. away and is an easy bike ride or walk, and the 13th-century Schloss Bruck houses many powerful paintings by local revered artist, Albin Egger-Lienz.

Directions to Dolomiten-Camping Amlacher Hof

The small hamlet of Amlach is just 2 km. south of Lienz. You need to turn south at the traffic lights near the railway station, go under the railway and over the river then straight on to the site.
