Alan Rogers Review of Ötztaler Naturcamping
Four thousand feet above sea level, Ötztaler Naturcamping is set in a clearing among the pines and towering mountains of the Ötz valley. Mostly level, but with some terraces, the 100 touring pitches (60-110 sq.m) are marked out by stone and timber features. All have now been equipped with water (warm in winter), 16A electricity, gas and TV connections, plus individual drains. A stream of mountain water runs through the site and also powers the wheel of a newly restored Tirolean flour mill. The flour is used for a weekly bake of delicious bread in the campsite’s own wood-fired oven. The site closes for two weeks in May and October.
Children enjoy paddling in the stream in summer, but no other activities are organised. Campers are encouraged to enjoy the great range of walking, cycling and climbing trails in the immediate area. In winter, the free bus service from the village takes visitors to and from the ski slopes, and a cross-country ski route passes the site. At the end of a busy day, the bar and restaurant offer a warm and cosy spot to unwind. A card from the site provides free local bus travel. The ÖTZtal Card (from € 45) gives unlimited access to travel and leisure facilities in the Ötz valley.
Facilities at Ötztaler Naturcamping
Heated sanitary block with showers (token). Washing machine and dryer (token). Dishwasher. Baby changing table. Drying room. Dishwashing by EasyBe, Motorhome services. No shop, but bread to order. Bar, restaurant and takeaway (20/6-15/9). Common room with TV. Restored flour mill and own bread weekly. WiFi over site (charged).

From A12 trunk road, take exit 123 on to 186 towards Solden. Pass Langenfeld and turn right to Huben. Follow the green camping signs.
