Relaxed lifestyle

Mobile home living is ideal for an active family holiday with home comforts provided, typically including a fridge with freezer compartment, gas hob, proper shower - often a microwave and hifi too but do check for details. Of course all are fully equipped with kitchen utensils, pots and pans, crockery, cutlery and some even have a dishwasher! Many have an attractive wooden sundeck or paved terrace. Above all, you know you’ve paid significantly less than for an equivalent mobile home in the glossy brochures.

Layouts will change from model to model but as a rule the typical, average mobile home will offer:

Minimum 2 bedrooms with a master bedroom and double bed, and second bedroom with 2 twin beds (possibly a fold-down bunk). There is also usually a sofa bed in the lounge. Blankets and pillows are usually provided.
Most mobile homes have a heating system and some, particularly those further south, may have air conditioning. Many have double glazing.
A well appointed kitchen, typically with a 4 burner hob and often a microwave oven. There will be a proper fridge and usually a small freezer too, along with pots, pans, cutlery and crockery - not forgetting the corkscrew!
A shower room, usually with a separate toilet.
Outside garden furniture is usually provided, sometimes with an attractive wooden sundeck or paved terrace - a perfect spot for outdoors dining - and a barbecue if permitted.

Mobile home Q&A

Do I need to take bed linen?
Pillows and duvets are provided and most campsites offer linen hire.

What about baby equipment?
Most campsites can provide a ‘baby pack’ (cot and highchair).

What is the difference between a mobile home and a chalet?
They’re very similar. Exact layout and inventory will vary but think studio-style layout and a fresh, contemporary feel. In general, modern campsite chalets incorporate all the best features of mobile homes in a more traditional structure, sometimes with the advantage of an upper mezzanine floor for an additional bedroom.

Are there any deposits payable?
A fully refundable deposit is generally requested on arrival to cover possible breakages and cleaning. A credit card is usually ‘swiped’, then refunded on departure. Some sites operate an optional cleaning service, handy for early morning departures (a fee is charged).
