Just five kilometres or a short bus ride from this site is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, Krakow. It dates back to the tenth century and contains many fine buildings, such as the Cloth Market in the main square. A short (or somewhat longer) stay at Camping Smok is likely to be an essential part of any trip to Poland. It has 50 touring places, all with 6A electricity, in a semi-rural area along the Vistula valley and is only 5 km. from the A4 motorway junction. As you approach the site on the motorway you will see the Camaldolite Monastery at Bielany, high on a cliff.

However, monks who are committed to absolute silence and no contact with the outside world inhabit it and visits are severely restricted. For the tourist, it is fortunate that most of the places of interest are located in its fairly compact historic centre. Start your tour in Rynek Glówny and you’re spoilt for choice, but don’t miss the Wawel, with its fine gothic cathedral and Renaissance castle.

The enlarged toilet block near reception has toilets and showers and is clean and tidy. Washing machine. Covered cooking facilities for tents, with tables. Small shop for essentials (high season). Covered picnic hut. Small play area.

Directions to Camping Smok Nr. 46

From the A4 heading north take first exit having crossed the river, signed ‘Kraków Centrum’. Turn left towards Kraków and after 2 km. at T-junction turn right onto the 780. After 3 km. (about 300 m. after the cross roads lights) turn left into site. Reception is at the top of the steep climb.
