Alan Rogers Review
Zugligeti Niche is in the Buda Hills on the starting point of the former 58 tramline, of which the main building now houses the reception, bar and restaurant. There are 80 pitches in one long row, all for tourers, mainly suitable for camper vans and caravans, and a few pitches for tents off a tarmac and gravel access road. To the front of the site are two old tram carriages, one of which functions as a restaurant. Breakfast is included in the price at this welcoming site and in high season a free drink is offered upon arrival.
Zugligeti Niche is popular with Italians, who park their camper vans here to enjoy a few days sightseeing in Budapest. By bus it is an easy 20 minutes to the first metro station at Széll Kálmán tér. From here you can visit the parliament and the royal palace and enjoy the great views of the Danube from Castle Hill (UNESCO World Heritage).
Two good refurbished toilet blocks with free, controllable hot showers, toilets and open style washbasins. Scattered around the site are several other toilet blocks with British style toilets, open washbasins and controllable showers (free). Basic facilities for disabled visitors. Laundry with sinks and washing machine. Campers’ kitchen. Bar/restaurant with good value meals. Torch useful. Free WiFi on part of site.
LocationSite is in the Budapest district 12. Coming from the north follow signs for M1 and M7 motorway. Site is well signed from Moszkva Tér. Link to campsite location map on google
