With a chilled family-friendly vibe, wecamp Santa Cristina sits in a Mediterranean forest surrounded by tall pines and cork oaks. Despite its peaceful setting, this no-frills site’s surprisingly close to the action; should you have enough of lazing by the pool, you could be on a Costa Brava beach in less than 10 minutes.
Your downtime on-site will most likely revolve around the swimming pool, but there’s also a playground to keep the kids entertained, and if you want to get out and about locally, you can hire mountain bikes from reception and head for the Catalan hills. Other facilities include free WIFI, shower blocks and a launderette.
Inland there are several golf courses close to the hilltop village of Santa Cristina d’Aro. Back down on the coast, there are watersports centres galore for surfing lessons or jetski hire, and you can take sailing lessons from Platja d’Aro beach. After all, that water-based activity, reward yourselves within walking distance the prom in Sant Feliu de Guíxols and settle down for a tapas lunch in a seafront bar.
There are plenty of cafés and restaurants within an easy stroll of the site, as well as several handy stores for bits and pieces. If you’d rather eat back at base, the best bet for food shopping is Palamós, where there are several large supermarkets.
