Alan Rogers Review of Tredegar House Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Site
Tredegar House Caravan and Motorhome Club site is ideally situated for breaking a journey or for more extended stays. It can accommodate 85 units, all with 16 amp electricity hook-up and 68 with gravel hardstanding, 4 fully serviced. 17 pitches are on grass, 6 of which are for tents with its use limited to families and couples – single-sex groups are not accepted.
The site itself is set within the gardens and park of Tredegar House, a 17th-century house and country park, which is open to the public to discover what life was like ‘above and below stairs’. The park entrance gates are locked at dusk so contact the site reception for details of latest arrival times. Some road noise may be expected at times, but otherwise, this is an excellent site.
Within convenient distance of the site is the beautiful city of Cardiff, with its medieval castle, National Museum, Bay Development and vast shopping centre. Close to the caravan park, you can visit the restored Transporter Bridge, Pwll Mawr (Big Pit mining museum) and the lovely Wye Valley. The bus stop is about a 25 minute walk from site and the service is frequent and good value, allowing you to conveniently explore the local area without the need for a car. A favourite of visitors is a trip to the small village of Ystradfellte, approximately 1 hour away, where a 5 mile walk can be undertaken to the four waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons - well worth the effort to witness these stunning falls.
