Alan Rogers Review of Spa Natura Resort
Set inland from the popular coastal resort of Peñiscola, Spa Natura Resort is set next to the Sierra de Irta Natura Park and Marine Reserve. This unusual development of residential and holiday park homes, designed and decorated in an environmentally friendly way, provides 110 level touring pitches. All pitches have electricity (6/10A) and access to water with wide, gravel roads. Amazingly, most are set on neat, artificial grass. Some shade is provided by young palms, pines and plane trees. The pitches are separated by small wooden fences and large units can be accommodated. Pitches are set between long rows of bungalows and there are very chunky elevated roofs over some. An impressive wellness centre is housed in a towering building, styled rather like a beehive.
A vehicle or bicycle is necessary as the site is rather remote. The sea and a 15 km. stretch of sandy beach are four kilometres away. Most of the amenities are close together and located near the entrance, including a modern reception building where English is spoken and there is internet access. Many caged animals and birds are kept here including monkeys and other small animals. When the site is busy, the amenities and pools could become crowded. The bar/restaurant also houses a games room for children. The play area and indoor pool with paddling pool are pleasant features. A sunbathing terrace has a selection of gym stances. Surrounded by countryside and mountain views and besides the nature reserve, there are many opportunities for outdoor activities in the area.

Two modernised toilet blocks include showers, open washbasins and separate toilets. Accessible Facilities. Washing machines and dryers. Shop. Bar/restaurant (all year). Small outdoor (June-Sept) and covered swimming pools (Oct-May). Spa centre offering steam room massage, jacuzzi, aquatic treatments, therapies. Gym. Indoor tennis court. Play area. Minigolf. Bicycle hire. Internet access. Activity programme (excursions, Spanish lessons, games, competitions). Dogs are not accepted in July/Aug. Cabins, mobile homes, apartments to rent. WiFi (charge for high speed). No charcoal barbecues.
Directions to Spa Natura Resort
From A7 (Barcelona-Valencia) take exit 43 and then N340 towards Benicarlo. Immediately look for signs at the N340 1040 km. marker to Camping Azahar on large boards steering you down a side road. The site is visible with large elevated signs from the slip road.
