Alan Rogers Review of Seal Shore Camping & Touring Site

A warm welcome awaits here on the island of Arran from the resident owner, Maurice Deighton. Located on the southernmost point of the island, Seal Shore Camping & Touring Site is a quiet and peaceful park situated along its own private beach with wonderful sea views.

The open, grassy area, sloping in parts, takes caravans, motorhomes and tents with ten electricity connections (16A). The reception doubles as a shop selling basics with a TV room adjacent. There are communal picnic and barbecue areas. The Kildonan Hotel is next door serving restaurant and bar meals. Permits are available for loch fishing and charters are available from the owner, a registered fisherman. Golfers can choose from seven courses.

A train journey to Ardrossan from Glasgow, a 50-minute ferry across to Brodick, Isle of Arran, and a short but beautiful bus ride will bring you to the gate of Seal Shore campsite, Kildonan, on the extreme south of the island. It’s a truly magical location, looking across to the islet of Pladda and the Ayrshire coast. Expect to see seals and otters from your tent.
