Point of Ness Caravan & Camping Site is in an idyllic position bounded by the sea on one side (an entrance to the harbour). It is sheltered by the land from the open sea and has views of the mountains and the island of Hoy. There is a rocky beach close by and walks from the site. There are 48 pitches (12 with 10A electricity hook-ups) on this level, firm grassy site protected from the small drop to the sea by a low fence.

Access to the steps to the sea is via a gate in the fence. While being located at one end of Orkney, it is still easy to visit the Churchill Barriers and the Italian Chapel as well as the closer Maes Howe and Skara Brae sites. Regular ferries come into Stromness from Thurso. Do not be surprised if the seals come to watch you. Ferries to other islands go from various ports, and it is sometimes necessary to book in advance.

Facilities at Point of Ness Caravan & Camping Site

The well-maintained traditional-style toilet block has good-sized showers (on payment) with curtains separating the changing area. Accessible facilities, Well-equipped laundry. A lounge for campers is at one end of the block.

Directions to Point of Ness Caravan & Camping Site

Site is just west of Stromness and is signed from the town. Campers can walk along the narrow high street to the site on the edge of the town. Caravans and motorhomes are advised to take the road at the back of the town (about 2 miles) that is clearly marked.
