Alan Rogers Review of Palmyre Loisirs
Camping Palmyre Loisirs is a very large and lively campsite lying on a peninsula 16 km. north west of Royan and only a 10 minute drive from several long sandy beaches. The site is surrounded by a pine forest and has over 600 pitches laid out in sandy, grassy, woodland areas. There are just 22 fairly small pitches for touring, all with 6A electricity (2-pin French style). These are a long walk from activities and pools. The campsite is very popular with families who enjoy plenty of entertainment (July and August) when there is a varied programme of day long activities for all ages including the very popular circus school. The site is not suitable for large units.
At the heart of the site is a bar with a large open air amphitheatre and stage where much of the entertainment takes place. Royan has a fantastic choice of superb sandy beaches, some are in protected bays and coves with others more open and suitable for surfing. There is a convenient cycle track all the way to la Palmyre, a distance of about 3 km.

Modern toilet block with all necessary facilities. Washing machine/dryer. Shop. Bar and takeaway with adjacent large open air amphitheatre and stage. Outdoor and indoor pools, water slide and flume. Play area. Children’s and teenager’s clubs. Discos. Tennis. Minigolf. Volleyball. Boules. Multisports area. Bicycle hire. Barbecues must be hired from site. WiFi on part of site (charged).
Directions to Palmyre Loisirs
Leave A10 autoroute at exit 35 (Saintes). Take N137 south about 3 km. then N150 west about 32 km. (signed Royan). On outskirts Royan take D25 northwest 18 km. towards La Palmyre. Take D141 northeast to site for 3 km.
