Formerly known as Excalibur Medieval Camping, touring pitches are no longer available at this site. The resort offers lodge and mobile home accommodation only. This is a site you could either love or loathe. Unlike other campsites, it has a Medieval theme. An American theme park approach has been attempted here and we saw lots of families enjoying themselves. However, we also saw that there was a constant struggle to keep up with the high maintenance demands of such as populated site. At peak times amenities appear to be stressed.
The large pseudo-medieval dining room has a self-service menu, as has the breakfast room. Meals can be included in the daily rate here and many visitors take an inclusive package. The quality of the food available is often poor. However, some campers may find the circus-like chaos, the Medieval dinner and show with its knights in shining armour on horseback, the pool area with its large playground, sauna, gym and underground indoor pool, enough compensation. This is a site where close attention needs to be paid to children’s welfare as the unfenced pools and giant play areas are side by side – there are slippery areas and steps without rails all in the same area.
Facilities
Facilities show signs of heavy usage and the breakages within are extensive; this extends to the facilities for disabled campers. Large multiple pool complex with jacuzzis. Sauna. Roman-style indoor pool below main pool complex. Snack bar. Self-service restaurants. Basic shop with souvenirs. Huge outdoor play areas. Inside play area with American style games (everything is free). Bicycle hire for children. ATM
Location
Site is northwest of Benidorm in Playa de L’Albir. From A7/E15 or N332 roads from the north leave at first exit for Benidorm. At end of the exit road there are numerous signs for Excalibur.
