La Combe de Ferrière is a former naturist campsite with a wonderful welcome and a relaxing ambience, hidden amid the dramatic hills of the southern Cevennes. This is a peaceful region where you can enjoy a Mediterranean lifestyle and climate. For the adventurous, a moonlit walk is on offer. There is a good swimming pool, sauna and dip pool and convivial evening meal once or twice a week.

There are 35 pitches (6A electricity), all with something special, whether it be a spectacular view or a beautiful tree. Twenty-four are dedicated to tents, with the remaining available for caravans/motorhomes. Two gîtes and three studios are for hire all year. Site staff will arrange to collect you from the nearby railway station if you wish. Cars are parked away from pitches.

The main house dates from the 11th century and each week campers are offered a two-hour guided tour. Why not try one of the nine walking routes starting from the campsite? For the more energetic, pony trekking and horse riding are available locally, as well as canoeing in the Gorges du Tarn. The granite hills of the Mont Lozère or the chalk heights of the Causses, near Florac, provide excellent walking. Day trips are possible to Roman Nîmes with its fine arena, the papal city of Avignon, Anduze with its unique bamboo garden, and the tiny medieval town of Vézenobres.

Facilities

Sanitary facilities include hot showers and open style washbasins. Accessible sanitary unit (no wheelchair access). Small laundry. Daily delivery of bread and groceries (high season). Evening meals once or twice weekly. Swimming pool (15/5-15/9) and sauna. Play area. Boules. Bicycle hire. Fishing possible in stream. Communal barbecue. Free WiFi. Dogs are accepted, but please inform reception before bringing dog in.

Location

From N106, between Alès and Florac, take D13 west of Collet de Dèze and follow this twisting road for 10 km. until the Col de Pendédis. Keep right and after 10 m. turn right, between 2 houses, and immediately after first house into a small road. Continue for 2 km. NB: Units over 7 m. will need a lot of manoeuvring to negotiate the last bend. No arrivals before 12 noon as final 2 km. to site is narrow.
