An attractive entrance gives no hint of what lies beyond – a traditional French seaside site, which can become rather cramped in high season, but is very quiet at other times. The nearest beach is just 200 m. away and the pleasant holiday town of Saint Georges-de-Didonne is 2 km. distant. Ideal Camping extends over eight hectares of level or gently sloping wooded parkland. All of the 483 pitches are for touring and 350 have 6/10A electricity, including some of the tent pitches. A number of mobile homes are available to rent. The nearby beach (on the Gironde estuary) is wide and sandy, perfect for buckets and spades!
Saint Georges is an attractive resort, which was spared much of the wartime damage inflicted on its larger neighbour, Royan. It is a pleasant spot for an evening stroll with stylish restaurants and shops. To the south of Saint Georges is a series of small, sandy beaches – the plage de Suzac is one of the most appealing, pleasantly sheltered with a backdrop of pines – and attractive villages and fishing ports on the Gironde estuary. For sophistication or nightlife, Royan is easily reached, whilst to the north lie La Palmyre, its famous zoo and the extensive Forêt de la Coubre offering both peace and adventure.
Facilities at Ideal Camping
Ten small, rather basic toilet blocks are open as needed and provide washbasins in cubicles and British and squat-style WCs (not all blocks have showers). Accessible facilities. Motorhome services. Laundry. Dishwashing by EasyBe, Bar/restaurant with takeaway (1/6-4/9). Large shop (15/6-31/8). Heated swimming pool, children’s pools and water slides (1/6-4/9). Children’s pool. New play area. Games room. Boules. Volleyball. Mobile homes to rent. Dogs are not accepted. WiFi over part of site (charged).

St Georges is 40 km. southwest of Saintes. From A10 at Saintes, follow signs for Royan via N150 then turn south on D25 towards St Georges and then Meschers. Site is clearly signed
