Hökensås is located just west of Lake Vättern and south of Tidaholm, in a beautiful nature reserve of wild, unspoiled scenery. This pleasant campsite is part of a holiday complex that includes wooden cabins to rent. It is relaxed and informal, with some 145 touring pitches either under trees or on a more open area at the far end, divided into rows by wooden rails. These are numbered and electricity (16A) is available on 135. Tents can go on the large grassy open areas by reception. This site is a find for people who enjoy outdoor activities.

The park is based on a 100 km. ridge, a glacier area with many impressive boulders and Ice Age debris but now thickly forested with majestic pines and silver birches, with a small, brilliant lake at every corner. The forests and lakes provide wonderful opportunities for walking, cycling (gravel tracks and marked walks) a real paradise for anglers, swimming and when the snow falls, winter sports.

Facilities

The original sanitary block near reception is supplemented by one in the wooded area, both refurbished. Free hot showers in cubicles with communal changing area. Separate saunas for each sex and facilities for babies and disabled visitors. Campers’ kitchen at each block with cooking, dishwashing and laundry facilities. Small, but well stocked shop. Very good angling shop. Fully licensed restaurant with takeaway. Playground. Minigolf. Football pitch. Fishing. Boules. WiFi (charged).

Approach site from no. 195 road at Brandstorp, 40 km. north of Jönköping, turn west at petrol station and camp sign signed Hökensås. Site is 9 km. up this road.
