Alan Rogers Review of Hartsholme Country Park

Set in an extensive Country Park, with Swanholme Lakes Local Nature Reserve a short walk away, this peaceful site is just three miles from the centre of the historic city of Lincoln, either via a dedicated cycle track or by bus. The 34 pitches are round the edge of two linked, well tended fields enclosed by trees, and are clearly marked by pegs. Twenty-six have electricity connections (10A), including three with hardstandings and paved paths for those with reduced mobility. Eight tent pitches are in a semi-circle at the far end of the site, where two picnic tables are provided.

Outside the site entrance are the Country Park Visitor Centre and a small café, which is open all year. There is also a play area close by. The Park and adjacent Nature Reserve provide a range of walks through the woodland and round the lakes, with regular events and activities organised throughout the year. Pubs, shops and a supermarket are nearby, whilst Lincoln offers a comprehensive choice of shops and restaurants, in addition to its castle, museums and cathedral. The attractive village of Woodhall Spa and nearby RAF Coningsby, home to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, are a gentle drive away.

Facilities at Hartsholme Country Park

One small, well maintained toilet block at site entrance provides open-style washbasins and spacious cubicles with controllable showers. Utility room with hot and cold water to dishwashing and laundry sinks. No specific accessible sanitary facilities but the block is accessible. Gas barbecues only.
