Alan Rogers Review of Grüntensee-Camping International

The site is two kilometres northeast of Wertach with a lovely view over the lake, and in the foothills north of the Alps, a popular cross-country skiing area in winter, with good walking and cycling at other times. A network of signposted paths starts at the entrance. There is no pool, but the site lies on the edge of a large, inviting lake with a pleasant grass area between the pitches and the water. The ground slopes, but is terraced, so the pitches are level. The 140 touring pitches, mostly marked and numbered, all have electricity and there are 22 new, fairly level pitches with water, drainage and TV connections.

The all year resort of Oberstdorf is 38 km. away and the site is also not far from Füssen (25 km) which is ideal for a day trip, there and to the castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

Facilities at Grüntensee-Camping International

Two modern heated sanitary blocks are clean and well maintained. Free showers, some washbasins in cabins. Accessible facilities. Baby rooms. Washing facilities and rack for ski boots. Laundry facilities. Fridge. Gas sales. Motorhome services. Hotel on site with excellent restaurant, bar, snacks and takeaway. Shop in July/Aug, bread to order. The hotel also contains a fitness room, solarium, TV room, children’s room, all open to campers. WiFi. Good playground. Pedalo and rowing boat hire. Fishing (permit from local club). Children’s club (high season). Boat launching.

Directions to Grüntensee-Camping International

From A7/E43 take exit 137. For now, ignore all signs to campsites. Go south on B309 for 1.5 km. then 6 km. southwest on B310 to Wertach. From here take minor road northeast along southeast side of lake towards Nesselwang. After 1.5 km. site is signed to left of road, towards the lake.
