Alan Rogers Review of Glen of Aherlow Caravan and Camping Park
The owners of one of Ireland’s neatest parks, George and Rosaline Drew, are campers themselves and have created an idyllic park in a stunning location. This three-hectare park is set in one of Ireland’s most picturesque valleys. There are beautiful views of the wooded and hilly areas of Slievenamuck and the Galtee Mountains from every pitch.
There are 48 large and level touring pitches, on both hardstanding and grass, each pair sharing a double 10amp Europlug post and water point. The Drew family welcomes large groups and rallies, and larger units can be accommodated, though the approach is narrow in places. The modern stone-built reception and shop beside the gate is a super addition to the site and includes a seasonal coffee shop. Excellent facilities are located in a purpose-built toilet block, which also houses a games room with table tennis and pool, perfect for those wetter days. The site is a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club Affiliated Site Scheme, but visitors who are not members of the club are also very welcome.
This area is an outdoor paradise with a nearby nature park and forest trails, with a 6 km walk starting at the park entrance, and a popular retreat for adults looking for a relaxing haven. With a local pub just 300 metres away, this is an excellent base from which to tour a variety of attractions such as the Rock of Cashel, Cahir Castle, Holycross Abbey and many more.
