Alan Rogers Review
Developed around two fishing lakes (formerly stone quarries), Gatton Waters has a peaceful, open aspect. Fishermen will delight in pitching at the lakeside, while other pitches are available away from the water at this adults only park. There are 60 level caravan pitches (all with electricity) and 30 tent pitches in quiet and very pleasant surroundings. With all but 25 pitches taken by seasonal units, there is still room for those looking either to fish (day tickets available) or for a quiet base to visit Sandringham or the north Norfolk coast (although reservations are essential).
Everything is kept as natural as possible and skylarks, pheasants, ospreys and leverets are to be seen, in addition to the many types of ducks, etc. on the lakes. In general the site retains a natural look but the grass is well trimmed and cared for. The site is now run by the son of the original owners, who are still adamant that their best ever decision was only to take adults – this also seems popular with their visitors. Only people over 18 years are accepted.
Three modern, heated toilet blocks provide good clean facilities. Extra facilities near reception. Bar with open fire – very welcoming and with the attraction of real ales and good food (booking required). Caravan storage. Torches are necessary.
From Kings Lynn follow A148 Cromer road. Site is on left just after West Newton turn, but before Sandringham turn and Hillington village.Link to campsite location map on google
