On the edge of a pine forest and just a short walk across the dunes from a fine sandy beach, this could be an ideal spot for a seaside holiday. Les Cyprès is a very French campsite with good basic facilities and a pleasant modern pool complex. The 300 pitches are in an arc curving out towards the sea in both directions from reception; the 141 touring pitches of varying shapes and sizes occupy the southern end of the arc. All have access to electricity (10A) and water, though long leads are required in places and some are more suitable for tents because of the trees.

Seasonal units occupy a number of these pitches except in high season. Other sections are for mobile homes and chalets for rent or privately owned. A walking and cycle route passes the site linking to an extensive network of tracks. The site is a short drive from the busy fishing port and resort of Saint Gilles-Croix-de-Vie with a good range of shops, bars and restaurants along its pedestrianised streets and on the quayside. An impressive new hypermarket has been built on the edge of town and there are lively weekly markets here and in neighbouring towns and villages. The fashionable resort of Les Sables-d’Olonne is 28 km. to the south and busy Saint Jean-de-Monts is closer still to the northwest; buses run between the two and pass along the nearby main road. The Vendée has a wide range of well-documented activities and tourist attractions on offer.

Small shop. Bar (July/Aug). Snack bar and takeaway with shared terrace (May-Sept and weekends). Outdoor pool (from 1/5) and heated indoor pool with jacuzzi (from 1/4) with paddling pools. Motorhome service point. Games room. Play area. Multisports court. Bicycle hire and children’s go-karts. Free WiFi in bar area.

Directions to Camping les Cyprès

St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie is 45 km. west of La Roche-sur-Yon on the D38 coast road. From roundabout at southern end of St Gilles bypass, head towards town and take first left in 400 m. Site is signed and is in 1 km.
