This independently run campsite is in a rural setting in the grounds of a former château. The camping area occupies only a small part of the nine-hectare site alongside a little stream; the rest is wooded grassland on the slope above the stream. The 42 touring pitches are level, and all have electric connections (6-10A) and individual water taps. Some are grouped in an area around the small pool, play area and toilet block; others are stretched out on one side of the stream (quite a walk from the facilities). There are also a number of pleasant chalets for hire.
Although reception is in a basic wooden cabin with very little tourist information available, the owners are very willing to provide advice on what there is to see and do in the area. The nearby Lac du Der has facilities for watersports enthusiasts - water-skiing and jet skis, as well as dinghy, catamaran, pedalo and electric boat, hire. The 37 km. circuit of the lake provides opportunities both for cyclists and walkers. The town of Saint Dizier and the city of Troyes are both within an easy drive for those in search of shops, bars and restaurants or (in Troyes) a taste of nightlife.
Facilities
Basic sanitary block with some British style and some squat style WCs, some washbasins in cabins and old fashioned, preset showers. Unit with WC and washbasin for visitors with accessibility issues plus a unit with a bath (possibly to be changed to a shower) and baby changing facilities. Dishwashing and laundry sinks. Washing machine and dryer. Small heated pool (9x4 m). Play area. Fishing. Free WiFi over site.
Location
Louvemont is 14 km. south of St. Dizier. From N4 south of town take D2/D384 (Eclaron/Montier-en-Der). Turn south on D2 (Humbecourt/Wassy); in 7.5 km. turn west to Louvement and follow signs to site 1 km. south of village.
