Alan Rogers Review

We were impressed with Camping Flaminio. It is a high quality campsite near Rome, with many flowers, shrubs and trees giving some shade. Being 400 metres from the main road it is protected from traffic noise. Although it is quite a large site, there are only 250 pitches, all with 6A electricity, which are approached by environmentally approved brick access roads. There is reasonable space allocated to touring units and the majority of these pitches in the lower areas are of average size. Pitches are situated away from the main facilities so there is quite a walk between the two. There are 120 well equipped bungalows attractively arranged in a village-style setting on the slopes.

The site is ideally situated for visiting the ‘Eternal City’, being close to a cycle route and with a regular bus/underground service into the centre of Rome from outside the site entrance, which operates until late evening.

The sanitary facilities are of a high quality including provision for disabled visitors and a very good baby room. Motorcaravan services. Bar/pizzeria and restaurant. Well stocked shop. Swimming pool (hats required), pool bar and solarium (15/6-5/9). Bicycle hire. Bus service. Torches useful. Pick-up service to and from Ciampino airport. Small electric bus runs between reception and pitches. WiFi throughout (charged).

From ring road north of city take Flaminia exit (towards Rome centre/saxa rubra). After 3-4 km. follow Flaminia signs, bear left where road splits to avoid tunnel and follow signs to Corso di Francia. Warning: site entrance appears suddenly on right as central barrier ends 150 m. after passing tunnel entrance.
