In the heart of the Jura lake district, Domaine de Surchauffant is pleasantly situated above the beaches bordering the Lac de Vouglans, which can be reached quickly on foot directly from the site. With only 203 pitches, this site may appeal to those who prefer a more informal atmosphere, however it can be lively in high season. The 131 touring pitches are of a reasonable size and are informally arranged, some are fully serviced and most have electricity (10A). They are divided by hedges and there is some shade. You can also choose to stay in one of their 24 mobile homes or 24 chalets. The lake offers a variety of watersports activities, boat trips, etc. and is used for fishing and swimming (guarded in high season as it shelves steeply).

Two signposted walks start from within 100 m. of the site entrance. English is spoken.

Facilities at Domaine de Surchauffant

The sanitary facilities are older in style and are adequate rather than luxurious, but are reasonably well maintained and were clean when we visited. They include some washbasins in private cabins and accessible facilities, Modern laundry. Heated swimming pool (200 sq.m) and paddling pool. Two playgrounds. Table tennis. Entertainment (July/Aug). TV room. Small library. Grocers for basic needs and a snack bar opposite campsite. Two restaurants (1 with view over the lake) are located just 200 metres from the campsite. Bicycle hire. Safety deposit boxes.

Directions to Domaine de Surchauffant

From A39 take exit 7 and N1082 to Lons-le-Saunier. Continue south on D52 for 20 km. to Orgelet. Site is by the D470, at La Tour-du-Meix, 4 km. east of Orgelet.
