Domaine de Beaulieu has an open, airy feel in a semi-rural setting on the edge of the village of Givrand, a short drive from an excellent sandy beach and the fishing port and resort of Saint Gilles. The 127 touring pitches all with electricity (10A, Europlug) and water nearby, are pleasantly laid out and separated by hedges or bushes; most have shade from mature trees, others are more open. A little stream in an unfenced cutting runs through the site. There are around 180 mobile homes, most to rent, and tour operators occupy 90 pitches. Early and late in the season, the campsite is quiet, whereas in July and August there is a lively and wide-ranging entertainment programme for all ages, including teenagers.

There is an excellent Auberge in the village, specialising in duck dishes and serving set meals which are remarkably good value. Saint Gilles Croix-de-Vie has quayside bars and restaurants, pedestrianised streets, lively weekly markets and a thriving marina. Buses run from outside the campsite through Saint Gilles to Saint Jean-de-Monts to the north and to the fashionable resort of Les Sables d’Olonne to the south. The Vendée has an impressive range of well-documented activities and tourist attractions in addition to its great choice of fine, sandy beaches.

Location

St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie is 45 km. west of La Roche-sur-Yon on the D38 coast road. Site is signed from roundabout at Givrand, at southern end of St Gilles bypass, 7 km. north of Brétignolles.
