Camping Wittelterbrug is a well established, family friendly site with a central location between the Drents-Friese Wold and the Dwingelderveld. This is excellent cycling and walking country (cycle hire is available on site). Pitches are in long lanes off paved access roads on good sized, grassy fields. All are equipped with electricity (10A), water and drainage (a small charge is made for hot showers). On-site amenities include two indoor heated pools and a convivial café/snack bar serving takeaway meals. In peak season, there is a lively activity and entertainment programme, including special activities for children.
The campsite is close to the villages of Dwingeloo (best known for its radio telescope, the largest in the world at the time of completion in 1956) and Diever, at the heart of south western Drenthe. This region is renowned for its natural beauty, within the two national parks of Dwingelderveld and Drents-Friese Wold. There are more than 1,400 km. of marked cycle trails, and the site’s managers will be very pleased to recommend routes.
