Camping Wilhelminahoeve is set in a pleasant, rural location at the heart of the Drents-Friese Wold with a number of important attractions close at hand. The site is beside a lake and has a pleasant beach. There are just 39 pitches here, divided between two large, car-free fields and one smaller field. All have 6A electricity and some have shade. Grass play areas have been created in the centre of the large fields. There are also two apartments to rent. On-site amenities include a convivial restaurant/snack bar with a terrace. The surrounding countryside is best explored by bicycle, with miles of excellent tracks. The site managers will be pleased to recommend routes.
The Drents Friese Wold is one of the largest areas of natural beauty in the Netherlands, with over 6,000 hectares of forest and heathland. There are a number of good visitor centres and watchtowers, ideal for birdwatching. Various events are organised in the park, including twilight walks and special children’s activities.
