Alan Rogers Review of Camping Village la Paillotte
La Paillotte, in the Landes area of southwest France, is a site with a character of its own. It lies beside the Soustons Lake only 1.5 km. from Azur village, with its own sandy beach. This is suitable for young children because the lake is shallow and slopes gradually. All 310 pitches at la Paillotte are mostly shady with shrubs and trees. The 75 pitches for touring vary in price according to size, position and whether they are serviced. La Paillotte is an unusual site with its own atmosphere which appeals to many regular clients. The campsite buildings (reception, shop, restaurant, even sanitary blocks) are all Tahitian in style.
Circular in shape and constructed from local woods with the typical straw roof (and a layer of waterproof material underneath), some are now being replaced but still in character. For boating the site has a small private harbour where you can keep your own non-powered boat (of shallow draught).
Facilities at Camping Village la Paillotte
Well equipped toilet blocks include accessible facilities. Washing machines, dryers. Shop (15/6-6/9). Good restaurant with terrace overlooking lake, bar, takeaway, swimming pool complex (all open all season). Sports, games and organised activities. Miniclub. TV room, library. Fishing. Bicycle hire. Sailing, rowing boats and pedaloes for hire. Torches useful. Free WiFi on part of site. Dogs are not accepted. Inflatable games, Pétanque court, Ping-Pong tables, Beach volleyball court, Tennis court and mini golf at the exit of the campsite
Directions to Camping Village la Paillotte
Coming from the north along N10, turn west on D150 at Magescq. From south go via Soustons. In Azur turn left before church (site signed).
