Although the Dolomite region of northern Italy is best known as a winter sports area, it is also popular during the summer with climbers, walkers and mountain bike enthusiasts. Camping Toblacher See is situated between the busy SS51 and a small, quiet lake surrounded by mountains. The 190 pitches, except for a small grass area for tents, are all on hardstandings of sharp, white gravel and, as these slope, levellers are required. All have electricity and 20 have water and drainage. The bar, restaurant and takeaway with terrace is pleasantly situated by the lakeside with scenic views across the water to the mountains beyond.

Unless you wish to linger by the lake or are a birdwatcher, this is more a site from which to explore the area, go climbing, walking or mountain biking or skiing in winter than stay on all day although there is some entertainment during August.

The single toilet block also includes a washing machine and dryer and accessible facilities. Family bathrooms for hire. Shop with basic supplies. Bar/restaurant and takeaway (closed Mondays). Pizzeria. Bicycle hire. Fishing. Cross country ski slopes. Guided walks. Barbecues are not permitted.

Directions to Camping Toblacher See

Leave the A22 (Brenner-Bolzano) at Bressanone. Go east on SS49 to Toblach/Dobbiacho and south on SS51 towards Cortina for 2.5 km. Site is on the right.
