Alan Rogers Review of Camping Soleil Levant
Soleil Levant has a superb lakeside beach as part of the campsite with shady grassy banks for picnics. Very reasonably priced, this is a site for lovers of nature, peace and quiet. There are competitions and games for all ages in July and August, but at other times there is just the sound of the birds. The 205 level pitches (151 for touring) all have electricity (6/10A) and water nearby. Most have shade from the maturing trees. Many activities are possible on the lake and there is a ramp for launching boats. This is a good area for walking and biking with several marked routes.
The nearby gorges of the River Tarn provide many spectacular views and scenic picnic locations. They also offer white-water rafting and canyoning experiences for the more adventurous. The towns of Rodez, Albi and Millau can be visited by car, each having their own special character. The medieval village of Pegayrolles with a château and 11th-century church is also worth a visit.
Facilities at Camping Soleil Levant
Three toilet blocks provide British and squat style WCs, preset showers and most washbasins in the main blocks are in cubicles. Superb accessible facilities. Baby rooms with bath, shower and child’s WC. Washing machines. Fridge hire. No shop, but bread and gas are available at the bar. Snack bar/pizzeria (27/6-10/9). Bar with TV and video games. Pedalo, zodiac and canoe hire. Free WiFi in bar.
Directions to Camping Soleil Levant
From the A75, take exit 44.1, then D911 towards Pont de Salars for 28 km. Before Pont de Salars follow signs for Salles Curan. After 7 km. site is on the left just before the large bridge over the Lac de Pareloup.
