Alan Rogers Review
Salamanca is one of Europe’s oldest university cities, and this beautiful old sandstone city has to be visited. This is also a useful staging post en route to the south of Spain or central Portugal. The site is 7 km. outside the city on the old road to Madrid, behind the Hôtel Regio where campers can take advantage of the hotel facilities. The 129 pitches (with two large areas for tents without electricity) are clearly marked on uneven and sloping ground, with some shade in parts and 10A electricity. Access to those pitches not on the wide central road can be difficult for caravans.
The hotel facilities include a quality restaurant, a cheaper cafeteria (discounts for campers), an excellent swimming pool and paddling pool (small charge) and a wellness centre (discounts available). There is a pool bar and a shaded patio. The site itself has a small bar, a cafeteria and shop. Visit the city and find the famous frog which is hidden in the fabulous University facade and discover what unusual Spanish fortune will be granted you! Or just enjoy the wonderfully accessible Salamantine architecture and myriad bars around the Plaza Mayor.
Very large, fully equipped sanitary block is in need of some repair and upgrading. Facilities for disabled campers and babies. Washing machine and dryer. Gas supplies. Motorhome services. Bar. Cafeteria. Shop (1/6-30/9). The hotel restaurant, cafeteria, pool and wellness centre may be used by campers (discounts available). Play area. Tennis. Car wash. Bicycle hire. Internet and WiFi within hotel area. WiFi on site (free). English is spoken.
Take the main N501 route from Salamanca towards Avila, then to St Marta de Tormes 7 km. east of the city. Hotel Regio is on the right just outside the town at the 90 km. marker. Signs to Hotel Regio travelling east out of Salamanca.Link to campsite location map on google
