Alan Rogers Review
Postojna is renowned for its extraordinary limestone caves which form one of Slovenia’s prime tourist attractions. Pivka Jama is a most convenient site for the visitor, being midway between Ljubljana and Piran and only about an hour’s pleasant drive from either. The 300 pitches are not clustered together but nicely segregated under trees and in small clearings, all connected by a neat network of paths and slip roads. Some level, gravel hardstandings are provided. The facilities are both excellent and extensive and run with obvious pride by enthusiastic staff.
This good site is deep in what appears to be primeval forest, cleverly cleared to take advantage of the broken limestone forest bedrock. It even has its own local caves (the Pivka Jama).
Two toilet blocks with very good facilities. Washing machines. Motorhome services. Campers’ kitchen with hobs. Supermarket (1/6-15/9). Bar/restaurant. Swimming and paddling pools (15/6-10/9). Tennis. Bicycle hire. Day trips to Postojna Caves and other excursions organised. WiFi.
LocationSite is 5 km. north of Postojna. Leave A1/E61 autobahn Postojna exit. In Postojna follow signs to Postojna Caves (Postojnska Jama) continue past caves for 4 km. where site is signed to the right. Follow road through forest 2 km. to site.
