On entering this well organised site close to the French border, high in the Pyrenees, you gain an immediate impression of space, green trees and grass – there is always someone watering and clearing up to maintain the high standards here. The 200 lush grass pitches are neat, marked, of average size and organised in rows. Generally flat with some on a gentle incline, a proportion have water at their own sink on the pitch. All have 7.5A electricity connections. Many trees offer shade but watch for overhanging branches if you have a high unit. From the restaurant terrace you have fine views of the mountains in the background and the pool in the foreground. The site is open out of season (23 October - 1 May) during weekends and holidays.

There is an open fire inside for cooler evenings and a huge mural of the mountains in case you cannot see the real thing out of the window. There is much to see in the area but we do recommend a trip to the only cog railway in Spain, which opened in 1931 (runs 15/7-11/9). It leaves Ribes de Fresser and climbs 2,000 m. to the Sanctuary de Nuria where cars cannot go! It is a breathtaking trip. Try also the famous Catalonian gastronomy and experiment with the local wines and Cava.

One new, central and well equipped sanitary block of top quality and decorated with boxes of bright flowers, is kept spotlessly clean and can be heated. Accessible facilities. Good laundry. Motorhome services. Shop, bar and restaurant (all season). Heated swimming pool and circular paddling pool. Boules. Padel. Outdoor sports. TV and games room. Snooker. Play area and supervised clubhouse for youngsters. Excursions. Entertainment (high season). WiFi. Dogs are not accepted.

Directions to Camping Pirineus

From Perpignan take N116 to Prades and Andorra. Exit at Piugcerdà taking N250 signed Le Seu d’Urgell and almost immediately take second right for Guils de Cerdanya. Follow for 2 km. to site on right. From the south the best road is the C25/C16/N260 from Manresa to Piugcerdà, turning left for Guils de Cerdanya.
