This peaceful and delightful, family run site has a lot going for it: its situation beside the sea with a wide beach of sand and pebbles, its amazing mountain backdrop, the views across the bay to the town and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere created by its owner of 40 years, Elisa Roller, her family and her staff. There are 152 mostly level pitches, some beside the beach, others on wide, informal terracing. Electricity (10A) is available throughout (long leads may be needed in places). Pine and olive trees are an attractive feature and provide some shade. The restaurant with its homely touches has a good local menu and a reputation extending well outside the site.

Gates provide access to the pleasant beach with useful cold showers to wash the sand away. Torches are needed at night. For those interested, there is a naturist beach of fine sand around the little headland just south of the site. This is a pretty place to stay. Kim and Joost give a pleasant personal service and the entertainment too is geared to the family, in total contrast with that provided at the larger, brasher sites of the Costa Daurada. It is interesting to note that Cala d’Oques (Goose Bay) was where the migrant geese landed on return from wintering in South Africa, hence the geese on the site logo and the guard goose that watches the entrance.

Facilities at Camping-Pension Cala d’Oques

Toilet facilities are in the central part of the main building. Clean, neat and recently refurbished with a number of en-suite units (shower, washbasin and WC). Hot water to showers by token but free to campers. New heated unit with toilets and washbasins for winter use. Accessible Unit. Additional small block with toilets and washbasins at the far end of the site. Motorhome services. Gas. Restaurant/bar and shop (1/3-30/11). Play area. Kim’s kids’ club and family entertainment (high season). Fishing. Sailing. Internet and WiFi. Torches required in some areas. Mobile home and apartments to rent.

Directions to Camping-Pension Cala d’Oques

Hospitalet del Infante is 35 km. southwest of Tarragona, accessed from the A7 (exit 38) or from the N340. From the north take first exit to Hospitalet del Infante at the 1128 km. marker. Follow ‘Campings’ signs before the village, then signs to site for 1.5 km.
